Jingzhu’s Data Science Meets Music Website

Introduction

Jingzhu Chen studied classical piano performance under Marilyn Thompson and Elizabeth Joy Roe at Sonoma State University in California, where she earned a Bachelor of Music degree. She performed throughout the San Francisco Bay Area for six years and, after graduation, taught children aged 4 to 12 in elementary schools across the Sonoma School District. Jingzhu also performed as a soloist, accompanist, and chamber musician in various venues, including concert halls, recital halls, schools, salons, churches, and winery events.

Besides traditional concert performances, Jingzhu holds a Master’s degree in Applied Statistics for Social Science Research from New York University. She is interested in making scientific inquiries using rigorous statistical analysis and data science techniques. Her research interests include exploring how music influences social identity, emotions, cognition, physical health, and mental health. She shares both her intellectual work and piano performances on this website. If you have any questions about anything on this website, you can reach her at jc10426@nyu.edu or jingzhu.chen@yale.edu.
